Uganda’s Bamboo Project Leverages Blockchain for Transparency
In eastern Uganda, a pilot project led by Timeless Bamboo and Swiss blockchain firm Fedrok AG aims to plant bamboo on 10 acres, with every step documented on-chain. The initiative targets degraded soils, empowering local women and youth groups to lead fieldwork. Bamboo’s fast growth offers ecological and economic benefits, from stabilizing hillsides to creating small income streams.
Fedrok’s blockchain will publicly log milestones, replacing traditional record-keeping. The open ledger ensures transparency for consultations, planting, and monitoring. While bamboo is familiar in East Africa, this project’s innovation lies in its Immutable data architecture—anyone can verify progress via blockchain.
